The exhibition, Revolutionizing the World, 1917-2017, explores the visual history of the Russian Revolution of 1917 and evaluates the global impact of this historical event in the twentieth century. This year long exhibition will open at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) in August 2017, and travel to Sonoma State University, and California State University, Chico. The exhibition will be accompanied by a virtual exhibition that will provide viewers with in-depth information about the art and cultural artifacts that communicated, commemorated, satirized, and expanded the revolutionary ethos of 1917. Featuring art, posters, busts, banners, commemorative objects, revolutionary pamphlets and book covers, memorabilia, photographs and films on loan from the Wende Museum, the Center for the Study of Political Graphics, and the Getty Research Institute, the exhibition showcases the complexity of the art and visual culture created by and in response to the Russian Revolution.
Presented in collaboration with the History Department and College of Humanities and Fine Arts.
