Frontier Days Celebration

Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Category: Festivals

Location: Historic Weaverville, Main St., Weaverville

Roll back time to the 1850s for the 2nd annual Weaverville Frontier Days Celebration!

Join in the festivities on May 11, from 10am -4pm.

Our old fashioned celebration of heritage and culture begins at the Highland Art Center Meadow with the Nor-Rel-Muk Wintu Nation opening ceremony.

The tinkering of blacksmiths forging metal works will lead you down the lane to the Jake Jackson Museum where gold panning and other outdoor exhibits await.

Learn about the role the Chinese played in our culture at the Weaverville Joss House Temple.  A schedule of tours of the temple and directions are available at http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=457. Activities at the Joss House will be ongoing.

The Highland Art Center offers time period crafts, demonstrations for all ages, and the Wintu Village.

Visit the Young Family Ranch for an opportunity to learn about early agriculture, animals, witness water witching, and churn old fashioned hand crank ice cream demonstration.

Afterward, enjoy a historic tour of the cemetery grounds while searching for notable pioneers.  Do a tombstone rubbing.

The band stand will entertain with, variety shows, specialty acts, and era music all day.  We have also hidden golden nuggets throughout town! Come find a nugget, redeem your gift, and take a piece of our town home with you. Come one, come all!

(Schedule of events will be posted soon)

And join us as we spend the day Touching History.
