Based on the popular international collaborative art project, Julia Kay's Portrait Party and the book, Portrait Revolution, this show encompasses a wide interpretation of what portraiture is–both traditional and contemporary, engaging the viewer with both the person portrayed and the artist. A collaboration with Idea Fab Lab.
To portray the essence of a person, do we focus on the face? The DNA? How much of the artist’s nature should be reflected in a portrait? For the purpose of “Portrait Revolution,” a compelling portrait should reflect the character and inner life of both the sitter and the artist. This exhibit will encompass a wide interpretation of what portraiture is–both traditional and contemporary–but above all it should deeply engage the viewer with both the person portrayed and the artist. 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional works accepted in all media.
