Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Category: Performing Arts

Description:

FROM IRELAND TO APPALACHIA with FIDDLING POETS, KEN WALDMAN & WILLI CARLISLE

Join Ken Waldman and Willi Carlisle for a pre-St. Patrick's Day show that will get you in the March 17 spirit. Both Ken Waldman and Willi Carlisle are fiddlers and poets who love string-band music and words. Both have MFAs in Creative Writing and both make their living on tour, doing a wide range of events for a wide range of audiences.

In Weaverville, they'll be teaming up just as they will for tour dates in Chico, Arcata, Portland, Seattle, and Bellingham. In addition to the fiddle and the poetry, Ken Waldman plays mandolin and tells lots of Alaska-set stories. And in addition to the fiddle and the poetry, Willi Carlisle plays banjo, guitar, and accordion, plus he writes songs, sings, and acts.

The evening begins at 6pm, Trinity Congregational Church on Main Street, Weaverville, for a Writers Workshop (no experience required).  Ken will use a variety of clever Writers Prompts that are guaranteed to inspire the imagination and bust through any writers blocks, helping you to start a story or poem of your own.

6:45, the evening rolls into the Concert at the church parish hall.

Both Ken Waldman and Willi Carlisle will be working with Trinity County students earlier in the day. Both artists will be prepared to take their evening audience from Ireland to Appalachia. Willi Carlisle, an Arkansas resident, may even go on a detour through the Ozarks. Ken Waldman promises a side trip to Alaska. Expect a night of fun, inspiration, and surprises.

No charge to attend.  However, all donations will support the Trinity County Arts Council "Art & Music for Kids" program.
